easy blueberry banana smoothies + $25 UncommonGoods giveaway

Life is better during the summer, isn't it? I'll take frosty glasses over frosty winter mornings any day (then again I live in San Diego, so what do I know). These smoothies are so easy, so healthy, and so versatile (substitute blueberries for whatever fruit you like). While I'm not one to jump on bandwagons, these smoothies tick all the in-vogue foodie groupie bandwagon boxes: raw, organic, vegan (could be), etc.

A quick side note: This post is brought to you by another collaboration post with UncommonGoods, who graciously gifted me the soapstone shot glasses you see above. To get them click here. Also, Chow Creations and UncommonGoods want to show all of y'all our love by giving one of our lucky readers a free $25 gift certificate to UncommonGoods' catalog. Details on entering are at the bottom of this post. I made the criteria super easy, quick, simple, and painless. Now back to the post.

This recipe is so simple that, as I'm writing this, I have to be careful about not typing "Blueberry Banana Smoothie" too often because it practically gives away the ingredients list. For those PG-rated Father’s Days, serve dad these stupidly simple three-ingredient smoothies. Two minutes (probably less than two minutes) and three everyday, household ingredients are all you need to make Dad feel like that special guy he is! Let's get started!

Recipe
1 peeled banana, I debated including “peeled”, but my experience tells me to err on the safe side
1 cup of frozen blueberries, you can add whatever fruit suits your desires
1 cup of milk, for a vegan smoothie just substitute soy milk or coconut milk

Preparation:
1. I don’t think you need me to tell you what to do next. Add all of the ingredients into a blender and eviscerate the son of a businessman out of the living daylights cause it's five o'clock somewhere over the rainbow until it's absolutely smooth and creamy. The wonderful thing about this recipe is that it works well with any frozen fruit you may have in the freezer. Add mint, basil, ginger or cinnamon for an exotic kick. Serve in chilled glasses (preferably soapstone shot glasses from UncommonGoods).

Soapstone Shooter Set w/ Tote Review
First things first…adorable! And, I say that in the most masculine way possible (do I even own any masculinity to muster anymore). Second things second...soapstone! A couple minutes in the freezer and these soapstone shot glasses bring puns to a whole new “pun”iverse; get it, cause...“on the rocks”. Ooooooooooh! Snap! While I didn’t actually use the shot glasses for what they were meant to be used for (shots), I can’t imagine them to be so terrible. Though, the only complaint I have (while it’s self-inflicted I must admit) is that they might be just a tad too small for any practical application outside of taking shots. You’d need a couple refills of smoothie to fully settle into the summer vibes.
